After putting together an incredible offensive performance Saturday in Louisiana Tech’s 56-28 victory over Massachusetts, Carlos Henderson has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s National Player of the Week, it was announced by the organization Sunday.
Henderson is the first Louisiana Tech player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since the award began in 2004. The Walter Camp Football Foundation honors one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
A week after registering 232 yards and three touchdowns against WKU, Henderson followed up that performance with 12 catches for 326 yards and five touchdowns in LA Tech’s win over UMass Saturday. His 326 yards tied for eighth place all-time in NCAA history for most receiving yards in a single-game.
