Four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to sign with back-to-back defending champion Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $5.3 million deal, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
The New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers swapped players without even making a trade on Monday.
Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo agreed to a one-year deal with the Lakers on Monday afternoon. Then, later Monday evening, Lakers forward Julius Randle agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal with the Pelicans.
The Pelicans’ loss of Rondo came after the team agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent guard Elfrid Payton on Sunday evening.
Randle, meanwhile, is a 23-year-old former Kentucky star who averaged 16.8 points and eight rebounds per game last season.
On Monday, the Lakers renounced his rights to allow him to become an unrestricted free agent. He reportedly has a player option for 2019 that could allow him to return to free agency.
